We recommend confirming all details with us at least three weeks before your event to ensure timely book orders and coordination of required staff. Thank you for understanding!
STAFFED EVENT
This option is best for events with 100+ attendees that feature new releases, especially if the author is present and signing. In our experience, about 30 percent of event attendees purchase books.
Q: How are the books managed for a staffed event?
A: Politics and Prose (P&P) booksellers bring the featured books to the event and manage sales from start to finish.
Q: How much do the books cost?
A: Books are sold at the list price.
Q: Is there a cost for a staffed event?
A: P&P sets a book sales minimum for the event to cover costs, and we also ask the host to arrange/pay for parking. The list price of the book, the size and duration of the event, and the number of booksellers needed are some factors P&P considers when setting the minimum. If book sales fall short of the minimum, the remaining books to meet the minimum are left with the host, and the credit card on file is charged.
TO NOTE for staffed events:
- A credit card is required to secure the event.
SELF SELL
This option works best for meetings, conferences, or casual gatherings. In our experience, between 10-30% of event attendees make book purchases.
Q: Is there a minimum for the self-sell option?
A: A minimum purchase of one carton per title is required. Carton quantities typically range from 12-24 books.
Q: Is a discount offered?
A: Most titles are available at a discount:
- 10-24 books sold: 10% discount to you
- 25-99 books sold: 20% discount to you
- 100+ books sold: 25% discount to you
Attendees are typically charged the list price. The difference is yours to keep.
Q: What logistical details am I responsible for?
A: The event organizer (you!) is responsible for picking up books at the store, managing onsite sales, and returning unsold books.
TO NOTE for self-sells:
- A credit card is required to secure the event. After any unsold books over the minimum are returned, we will charge the card on file. If the remaining unsold books are not returned within two weeks of the event, the customer will be charged for all the books received obtained from P&P for their event.
BULK PURCHASES
This option works best for corporate or community events where books are provided to attendees for free.
Q: Is there a minimum for bulk purchases?
A: A minimum of 25 books is required.
Q: Is there a discount on bulk purchases?
A: Most titles are available at a discount:
- 10-24 books sold: 10% discount to you
- 25-99 books sold: 20% discount to you
- 100+ books sold: 25% discount to you
TO NOTE for bulk purchases:
- All bulk purchases require prepayment in full, are considered final, and are not returnable.
- Books are drop-shipped directly to the event organizer (usually via UPS).
- Books must be given away and are not eligible for resale.
